Robert Cottrell

Robert is the Commercial Director of Wrisk. He is a highly experienced board level insurance specialist, with over 25 years’ experience in insurance, claims and risk related roles. He has extensive knowledge of operating as a practitioner and senior leader in both the consumer and industrial insurance markets in the UK and overseas.

His previous experience has been gained in a variety of high profile strategic, development, distribution, operational, marketing and client facing roles spanning risk management, Loss Adjusting, Insurance Company and Corporate Partnership businesses.

Recognising Wrisk’s commitment to future focussed Automotive Original Engine Manufacturers (OEMs), notably, Robert’s experience also includes - Director of Insurance for Volkswagen Financial Services where he led the delivery of all insurance related activity for the UK Volkswagen group companies and brands with specific responsibility for both consumer and industrial insurance and associated claims and risk management arrangements.  

His role was expanded to include international strategic development responsibilities identifying solutions and managing the transition preparation to establish new delivery in overseas markets, working extensively in Europe, USA, Canada, the Middle East and North Africa.

Robert has undertaken FCA Approved Person functions relating to Insurance Mediation and in addition, is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute – ACII, a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and a Diploma member of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters.
